Trent Basin is a £100m housing development in Nottingham which provides a working example of how the switch to low-carbon living is possible across the UK.
At the heart of this ground-breaking clean energy project is Europe’s largest community battery, which stores and allows smart distribution of energy produced from on-site renewable sources to homes across the development.
Surplus power can be sold back to the grid and shared profits used to offset energy costs by residents. The project is being led by University of Nottingham and is funded by Innovate UK.
This is just one of many pioneering projects all over the UK being supported by the Government’s clean growth innovation funding, which aims to make the UK a world leader in low carbon technologies to its economic, environmental and social benefit.
